Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as Dreamville Records' debut female singer on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The first single, Pho on October 21 2016, was released through Dreamville Records. She began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May of 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music online in 2012 after she released her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release additional music on the internet including Bound. In the year 2015, she performed in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat released on the 21st of July. J. Cole asked her to join him in collaboration for Rihanna's remark. Then, later in the calendar, her songs was played around Dreamville. The news was released on December 8 she signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat is a song that she recorded with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In the month of October she dropped her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening artist. In 2018, she appeared in two of her songs with labelmates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. And Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The album's first single, called Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream came out in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a a music video. On November 9 the singer released two new singles: the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On November 13 two new singles, titled One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. It then came out as a single on its own in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February of 2019 her music video to the song was released. The track has garnered more than 3 million YouTube views in just one week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
