Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). A few years later, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. 1981 was the year she began reporting on the White House, and in 1988 was named Chief Correspondent to Congress. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a guest in the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She participated as a member of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on for the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. She has covered several notable reports over the years, including the tax reforms, budget reforms and an investigation into the Iran Contra scandal. She traveled frequently together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
