Kim Delaney was an American actress. The actress is best known because of her part as detective Diane Russell, in the ABC show NYPD Blue. For this she won the Emmy Award. In addition, she was a part of dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the only daughter of the United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a household worker. Her childhood was spent in a home which included four brothers. As a child she was aspired to become a court reporter. After graduating from high school and moving to New York in the 1980s and began to model, she was hooked. The role she was given was that of a young innocent in 1981's soap opera All My Children. Delaney was a talented young actress in the 80s, has been featured in several films TV movies and dramas. In contrast to her career success, her private life isn't as content and successful. The accomplished actress battled addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to fall apart. In 2005, she lost custody of her sole son.
